Cops: Man Had 75 Weapons in Meriden Home

Seventy-five guns. Among the arsenal of weapons police said they found in a Meriden home were an Uzi machine gun, an AR-15 and AK-47 assault rifles. Four of them were banned assault weapons and six that weren't properly registered

There were also, thousands of rounds of ammunition for each weapon and hundreds of spare clips, some with high-capacity magazines.

Police said they found the stash after police contacted them about John Macombe, 50.

Sgt. Len Caponigro said family members called Meriden Police on Dec. 23 after Macombe had threatened them and a co-worker at the car dealership where he worked. Macombe might have extremist views, police said.

Macombe was arrested on Wednesday and is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail on charges including threatening, illegal possession of an assault weapon and failure to register an assault weapon.
