Coventry Woman Seriously Hurt in Crash on I-84 in East Hartford

A Coventry woman is in serious condition following a crash on Interstate 84 eastbound in East Hartford late Friday night, according to police.

Police said 47-year-old Nancy Lapoint was traveling east on I-84 toward Interstate 384 when her car was struck by another vehicle that had lost control.

It happened when 59-year-old Charles Peterson, of Rocky Hill, changed lanes and lost control of his car, crashing into barrels at exit 59 and then hitting Lapoint’s car, according to police. Lapoint’s car then rolled onto its hood.

Lapoint was taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Peterson received minor injuries in the crash, police said.

Authorities are investigating to determine the cause of the crash.
