An udderly happy ending in the case of the heifer heist in Waterbury.

More than a year ago -- the famous cow that sits atop Mary's Diner on Watertown Ave. in Waterbury disappeared -- stolen by bold thieves.

On Tuesday, the cow mysteriously reappeared -- returned to its rightful spot above the diner.  The owner, Maria Papa, apparently got a tip about the whereabouts of the cow.  The cow suffered a few bumps and bruises but has now been hoisted back to her perch.

No word on who stole the cow -- but the good news is -- she's back and we "herd" residents are glad to see her.
