Naugatuck police have arrested a Waterbury man accused of posting a fake Craigslist ad in the victim’s name.

The victim filed a harassment complaint on July 6 and Alexander Carneiro, 18, turned himself in to Naugatuck police at 2:08 p.m. on Tuesday.

Police said Carneiro was trying to solicit people to call the female victim to harass her.

He and the victim apparently knew each other and Carneiro wanted more of a relationship than he did, according to police.

Carneiro was charged with second-degree harassment/intimidation. He was released on a $1,000 non-surety bond and is due in court on Sept. 26.
