Traffic was backed up on Interstate 84 westbound starting in the area of exit 40 in West Hartford following a motorcycle crash on the highway late Monday afternoon.
According to the Department of Transportation, a car collided with a motorcycle between exit 39A in Farmington and exit 40 in West Hartford. Traffic was delayed for more than five miles to exit 50 as a result.
Photos from the scene show a fire truck and state police crusiers blocking off the right-hand lanes. At least one person was taken from the scene on a stretcher.
Police have not released any information on injuries.
The right lane of traffic was closed while authorities work to clear the scene. Department of Transportation traffic cameras showed DOT trucks laying down sand in the right lane.
