Lifestar responded to Interstate 691 near the Cheshire/Southington line on Monday afternoon for the victim of a crash, who suffered serious injuries.
One lane of the eastbound side of the highway is getting by between exits 3 and 4 after a crash, but the exit 3 onramp is closed.
Lifestar responded for one patient after a car struck the back of a garbage truck, according to police.
Injuries are reported to be serious.
The helicopter landed on the highway, transported the patient and the westbound side of the road has reopened.
No information is yet available on whether there are additional injuries.
