21-Year-Old Killed in Crash on Route 66 in Portland

A 21-year-old woman from East Hampton died Sunday after her car struck a utility pole on Route 66 in Portland, according to police.

Jennifer Wall was killed when her car smashed into a pole near the intersection of Route 66 and Payne Boulevard, police said. The crash happened around 5:15 a.m. Sunday.

Route 66 was closed for several hours between Middle Haddam Road and Cobalt Road but has since reopened.

No additional information was immediately available.
