Firefighters are battling a raging fire at a home on Jefferson Street in Hartford and a neighbor said firefighters are to thank for saving her dog and keeping her home safe.

Fire crews responded to 255 Jefferson Street around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

There is no one inside the home, but two houses on either side have been evacuated as a precaution, according to fire officials.

The woman whose dog was saved lives in a house next to the burning building.
