A woman has died and her son is in the hospital after a fire on Tetlow Street in West Haven Wednesday morning, according to fire officials.
Fire officials said the fire happened around 10:30 a.m.
An elderly woman who was bedridden was in a first-floor bedroom and a large number of personal items in the home made it difficult to get the woman out, officials said, but they were able to get her out of the house.
The woman’s son was taken to a hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
No additional information was immediately available.
The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
