Two Dogs Escape Torrington Fire

No one was home when a fire ravaged a Torrington home except two dogs that escaped unscathed, but now a family is displaced after the blaze destroyed their house.

A fire broke out at 545 Westledge Drive at about 11:15 a.m. and firefighters responded to the two-alarm blaze. About 75 percent of the home was engulfed in flames and it took firefighters about 45 minutes to knock it out.

The family wasn't home at the time of the fire, but their two dogs got out of the house on their own unharmed. No one was injured and no one was taken to the hospital.

The home however was significantly damaged, rendering it uninhabitable. The residents have been displaced.

Firefighters checked for hot spots to ensure the fire doesn't start up again.
