Fire Ravages North Franklin Home

At least 10 fire departments responded to a large house fire in North Franklin Thursday.

The home near the intersection of Pond Road and Whippoorwill Hollow Road went up in flames Thursday afternoon. Crews on scene said it was difficult to contain because there are no hydrants in the area.

Firefighters from at least 10 departments in the region rushed over to help control the flames and shuttle in water.

Video from the scene shows a large portion of the house already destroyed by flames. The fire sent up a smoke plume 5,000 feet high, which could be spotted on Doppler Radar.

Crews remain on scene and more details were not immediately available.
