Water Main Break in Bozrah Repaired

A break in a five-mile stretch of water main in Bozrah has been repaired.

Construction crews broke a water main line on Fitchville Road that feeds into the city of Norwich on Tuesday, and officials from the fire department said it could be out of operation until Wednesday.

The break was at Fitchville Road/Route 608 and Elaine Street in Bozrah and the main was shut down between Haughton Road and the Norwich town line.

Fitchville Road was closed from Haughton Road to the area of the Bozrah Street Extension and exit 24 on Route 2 for the repairs.

Officials from Norwich Public Utilities said they would contact residents affected by the break and give out bottled water until their water is turned back on.

Water could be discolored after it's restored and customers should run cold water for 5-10 minutes until it's clear, according to NPU.

If the problem continues, call NPU at 860-887-2555.

Fire officials said construction crews were responsible for the break. NPU plans to investigate the cause.
