West Hartford Water Main Break Could be False Alarm: MDC

What initially appeared to be a water main break on New Park Avenue in West Hartford may actually be the result of ground water being forced to the surface as the ground freezes, according to a water company spokesperson.

Bubbling water was reported in the area of 602 New Park Avenue around 7 p.m. Monday.

Police said they believed it to be a water main break, but MDC crews arrived to find indicators that it might have been ground water instead.

A West Hartford salt truck treated the the road to sop up the excess water.

MDC crews are testing water samples to determine where it came from and are continuing to investigate.
