Disaster Recovery Centers Open in Stratford, East Haven

A Federal Emergency Management Agency-State of Connecticut Disaster Recovery Center opened on Monday in Stratford and will be open for three days. A center in East Haven will also be open for three days

The Stratford Disaster Recovery Center is located at Birdseye Municipal Center, Stratford Public Health Center, 468 Birdseye St. in Stratford. It is open noon to 8 p.m. on Monday,
then 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Specialists at the center can help with registration, check an individual's case, answer questions about your claim or review information needed to process your claim. Recovery specialists also can supply contacts for other programs that may be able to help.

A disaster recovery center will also be located at the Beach House at Cosey Beach Avenue in East Haven on Friday, Nov. 23, from noon to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, Nov. 24 and Monday, Nov. 26, from 8 a.m.  to 8 p.m. on both days.

FEMA will host an informational forum for business and property owners dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy on Tuesday, Nov. 20.

The City of New London will host the forum at 5:30 p.m. at the New London Senior Center at 120 Broad St.

People with storm losses should register with FEMA online at www.disasterassistance.gov, or with a smartphone or device at m.fema.gov. Applicants can also register by phone by calling FEMA at 800-621-3362.  The number for TTY is 800-462-7585.  Multilingual operators are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
