Donovan Running for Congress

Connecticut's Speaker of the House has filed papers to run, according to a report.

Speaker of the Connecticut House of Representatives, Chris Donovan, is aiming for a new job.

Donovan filed papers to run for the U.S. House of Representatives in the 5th District Friday, according to CTNewsJunkie. The Meriden Democrat had been mentioned as a possible candidate for the 5th District seat ever since Chris Murphy announced he would run for Senate earlier this year.

A picture of Donovan appears on the website ChrisDonovanforcongress.com, along with a logo and a box for visitors to sign up for more information, though nothing else appears on the web page.

He was first elected to the State House of Representatives in 1992, and became Speaker in 2009.
