Trees have come down, closing several streets.

Trees in several communities came down as severe weather moved through the state this morning and streets were closed as a result.

Route 8 North in Colebrook was closed north of Route 20 after a tree came down, according to the state Department of Transportation.

In Avon, Lovely Street was closed north of Chevas Road. It's not clear whether that has reopened.

In Hartford, Hillside Avenue was closed at Oliver Street and a tree branch brought down power lines on Mansfield Street.

In Mystic, a tree came down on Cedar Road.

The storm also caused power outages.

At one point, Connecticut Light & Power was reporting 5,635 power outages and more than 50 percent of customers in Colebrook had no power.

As of 1:40 p.m., there were around 2,500 power outages.

You can check the outages on CL&P's Web site.
