Driver Injured in Collision With School Bus in Southington

One driver suffered minor injuries during a collision with a school bus on the Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike on Monday morning, according to police.

The driver of a car was trying to turn left onto Interstate 84 when she hit a school bus that was driving eastbound on the Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike and spun on the road, police said.

None of the 28 students who were on the bus at the time of the crash, heading to Southington High School, were injured, according to police.

Officers said the woman who was driving the car got out of the vehicle without putting it into park and the car rolled into another vehicle, causing minor damage.

The driver of the car was taken to St. Mary's Hospital to be evaluated.

Another bus transported the students to the high school.
