Police ID Driver Killed After Hitting Fuel Tanker in Coventry

A 29-year-old Coventry man is dead after he crashed into a fuel truck in Coventry on Tuesday night.

Police said Michael Miller, 29, of Coventry, was driving the Chevy S-10 that hit the back of a fuel tanker at 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

The tanker was stopped on the eastbound side of Boston Turnpike and Route 31 South to turn into a parking lot to make a fuel delivery according to police.

Miller was was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ginnetti Petroleum Transporters, of East Haven, owns the tanker and the contents were not affected by the crash, according to police.

Boston Turnpike was closed for several hours, but has reopened.
