Driver Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash in Middletown

Car struck a pole near 775 Washington Street in Middletown around 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

A 20-year-old Middlefield man is in the hospital after his car was struck by another vehicle and collided with a utility pole near 775 Washington Street in Middletown on Sunday, according to police.

James Malcolm was driving westbound on Washington Street around 5:30 p.m. Sunday when another car crashed into his 2000 Chrysler Sebring, sending it across the eastbound lanes and into a pole, police said. The other driver fled the scene.

Malcolm was taken to the hospital and is listed in stable condition.
