Driver Killed, Passenger Injured When Car Hits Tree in Waterbury: Police

A driver was killed and a passenger injured after a car struck a tree in Waterbury early Sunday morning, police said.

A car veered of the road near 398 Thomaston Avenue and hit a tree, police said. It happened at about 4 a.m.

The driver sustained a serious head injury and died at the scene, according to police. An ambulance transported the passenger to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The identities of the driver killed and passenger injured have not been released at this time.

Police have not released information on the cause of the crash, which remains under investigation.
