Drunk Woman Assaulted Officer: Cops

Officers had to remove Maxine Romano from a Springfield hotel, police said.

An Enfield woman has been arrested after a drunken encounter in a Springfield hotel, according to police.

Officers were called to the Sheraton Hotel at 1 Monarch Place around 10:30 p.m. Monday after employees complained Maxine Romano wouldn't leave. Witnesses told police Romano, 23, was drunk and swearing at other patrons in the hotel's MVP Pub.

According to police, the officers tried to calm Romano down and get her to agree to take a cab home, but she refused. The officers arrested Romano, but during the arrest, she began to swear at them and told the officers that she owned a tanning salon and she would have their jobs by morning, according to police.

Once at the police station, police said Romano drove her high heel into the leg of one of the arresting officers, causing a minor cut.

Romano was charged with assault and battery on a police officer and trespassing. She appeared in Springfield District Court Tuesday.
