The driver of a dump truck is dead after a dump truck struck a bridge on North Frontage Road in North Haven and ran him over.

Police said 70 year-old John Grillo, of Southington, was killed after the dump truck he was driving rolled over him.

According to investigators, the back of the truck was up as the driver drove under a CSX railroad bridge, and the vehicle got stuck. Grillo got out of the truck to examine the damage and it rolled over him, police said.

Railroad traffic was stopped so inspectors could check the bridge for any damage.

The crash happened in an industrial area where most of the traffic is from trucks.
