East Hartford Teen Posted Explicit Pictures of Female Classmates: Police

An East Hartford teen is facing charges after posting dozens of revealing pictures of his female classmates on social media along with sexually explicit captions, according to police.

Police said 18-year-old Brandon Brown posted sexually suggestive photos of his female classmates on his own Instagram account without their permission and made derogatory comments about the girls.

According to the warrant for Brown’s arrest, one of the girls was just 14 years old and was so traumatized, she cut herself and was taken to the hospital.

The victims told police some of the images were re-posted from their own social media accounts, while other, more explicit photos were made public without the victims' knowledge or consent.

Some of the account's 2,000 followers redistributed the pictures and many of the victims' family members, including younger siblings, ended up seeing the photos.

Brown admitted to creating the Instagram account and posting the images, according to the warrant for his arrest. He told police he found some of them on Twitter and received others through direct message on Instagram.

Police said the pictures were posted in May and the account has since been deleted.

Brown told police he "made a mistake, wanted to apologize to the involved girls, and that he did not have a problem with any of the girls," according to the arrest warrant.

He has been charged with child pornography, obscenity, risk of injury to a minor and several counts of second-degree breach of peace. He's due in court Dec. 16.
