East Lyme Police Arrest Suspect Accused in String of Burglaries

East Lyme police have arrested a suspect in a string of burglaries and car break-ins around town.

Police said around 4:45 a.m. Sunday a resident reported someone shining a flashlight through her window in the Black Point area of town. When police responded they found items strewn around East Shore and door kicked in at an unoccupied home. They also found a vehicle of interest in the area. They called in a K9 to search.

According to police, about two hours later a resident reported a male near Woodland Drive and Ridge Trail running into the woods. Police said when they caught up with the subject he was trying to break into another home.

The suspect, who has not been identified, was taken into custody. Police said the suspect is also accused in several other burglaries and car break-ins in the area.

The case is still under investigation.

Police remind residents to lock doors and vehicles and remove any valuables from view.
