Worker Rescued After Trench Collapse in Bloomfield

Emergency crews rescued a worker trapped in a trench at a work site in Bloomfield Monday.

Police said the victim was working for a private company doing septic work on Brentwood Drive when a trench collapsed, trapping the worker’s legs. The victim was conscious and able to speak to rescuers during the two-hour ordeal.

Officials say the victim’s injuries are serious but not life-threatening.

Several towns responded to assist with the rescue. First responders said they needed to provide support to the trench walls to prevent further collapse while they worked to free the worker.
