Eversource announced that it is building a new transmission line from Hartford to Newington within the next two years.
In addition to the 3.8 mile 115-kilovolt (kV) line, the company will also upgrade Newington, Berlin and Southwest Hartford with new equipment to support the new line, Eversouce said in an annoucement.
"These enhancements will provide reliable, cost-effective and environmentally sound improvements to the regional electric transmission system," Eversouce said.
The project is estimated to be complete and in-service by the end of 2018.
Local residents and business owners are welcome to a regional open house on held on Jan. 20. This will be the platform to learn more about the project and ask questions.
