Ex-Derby High Principal Pleads Not Guilty to Larceny Charge

Greg Gaillard was charged with second-degree larceny

The former principal of Derby High School in Connecticut, who is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from a principals union bank account, has pleaded not guilty to a second-degree larceny charge.

Police said after Galliard resigned in December that they received a complaint from the Derby Administrators Association reporting $13,200 missing from its bank account.

Although the timing of Gaillard's resignation coincides with the discovery of the missing money, Derby police said they believe the larceny allegations are not related to his decision to resign.

"As of December 9, 2014, Mr. Gaillard, for personal reasons, has resigned as principal of Derby High School," an announcement of the school website said in December. "

Police said Gaillard was president of the association and had financial control of its account.
