Fatal Car Accident in Meriden

Meriden Police are investigating a fatal car accident overnight.

The crash happened on Columbia Street, which parallels I-691.

Police said the driver, who was the only person in the car, was killed.

Police identified the driver as Raquel Pacheco, 49, of Meriden.

Meriden Police said she was driving a 1995 Nissan Maxima when the accident occurred.

Investigators say Pacheco was not wearing a seat belt.

The accident happened just before 2 a.m. Saturday.

Investigators were on-scene for most of the overnight to reconstruct the accident.

The scene has cleared and the roadway has reopened.
