Fatal Stabbing in Bristol

A fight between roommates turned fatal on Saturday night, according to police.

Fatal Stabbing in Bristol

Michael Torres, 38, was taken into custody after fatally stabbing his 35-year-old roommate.

One man is dead after a stabbing on Wolcott Street in Bristol on Saturday night and his roommate is in custody.

Bristol police responded to a multi-family home at 73 Wolcott St. around 9:30 p.m.
 
Police say that they heard a man yelling for help.
 
After forcing the door open, police discovered Stephen Cassidy, 35, suffering from multiple stab wounds.
 
He was transported to Bristol Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
 
According to police, Michael Torres, 38, stabbed his roommate during an altercation, then barricaded himself in an attic space.
 
Officers from the tactical unit and the emergency response team were able to take Torres into custody without incident.
 
Torres has been charged with murder and is being held on a $1 million bond.
 
He is scheduled to be arraigned in Bristol Superior Court on Monday.
