Police have arrested a dad accused of assaulting his 13-year-old and then disguising his appearance so he would not be caught.

Farmington Police said Julio Troche, 35, assaulted his son on Aug. 19 and sent the teen to the hospital.

A warrant was issued for Troche’s arrest on Aug. 24 and Hartford Police and the DEA Fugitive Task Force found him in Hartford, by Orange and Cherry streets.

Troche admitted to cutting and dying his hair after seeing his mug shot on television in an attempt to avoid capture, police said.

He is being held on bond. His son was treated for injuries at the hospital, but is recovering, police said.Follow us on Twitter @NBCConnecticut,  on Facebook, and sign up for breaking news SMS alerts on your phone by texting “CTBREAKING” to 622669.
