A family is displaced after fire tore through the home at 15 Crestview Road in Simsbury early Wednesday morning.
The fire, which reported around 5 a.m., destroyed the garage and spread, charring part of the roof and side of the house.
The residents got out on their own and no one was injured.
The hot weather posed challenges for firefighters.
"We're constantly reminding them about making sure they stay hydrated, not just before the fire, but all the time because you never know when fires are going to hit," Chief James Baldis said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
