Investigators are trying to determine what caused a fire that destroyed a home in Enfield Friday.
Flames broke out inside the three-family home on Park Avenue just before 9 a.m. Five people inside were able to escape the fire unharmed.
“A gentleman was driving down the street and saw the smoke. He came and banged on my door until I woke up and gave me a chance to get both of my cats as well,” said Molly Porter.
Arriving firefighters battled the elements as well as the flames.
“The wind was a huge factor that really hampered our operations,” said Thompsonville Fire Chief Frank Alaimo.
The home was a complete loss, so firefighters focused on saving the surrounding houses.
The Red Cross provided food and clothes to the victims, and all five found somewhere else to stay Friday night.
