Fire Destroys Manchester Auto Body Shop

Firefighers received a call of an explosion at the Main Street business.

An auto shop was quickly engulfed in flames and destroyed, while damaging surrounding buildings.

An auto shop was quickly engulfed in flames and destroyed, while damaging surrounding buildings.

An explosion and fire ripped through a Manchester auto body shop Friday afternoon.

Firefighter were called to Manchester Auto Repair on Main Street around 3:45 p.m. The building was engulfed in flames when they arrived.

Firefighters doused the flames and brought the fire under control a short time later. The building was destroyed, according to Manchester police.  No one was hurt.

A nearby pediatrician's office was evacuated, according to employees.

The fire spread to two adjacent homes.  The siding on one home melted, and the the attic was damaged on the other, according to fire officials.

Main Street and some surrounding roads were closed while firefighters battled the blaze.
