Fire Displaces Five Families

Five families, including 10 children, were forced out of their New Britain homes Wednesday.

A fire on Sexton Street in New Britain forced 21 people out of their homes early Wednesday morning.

Firefighters responded to 28 Sexton Street around 12:15 a.m. The flames heavily damaged the three-story building.

Five families escaped the fire. According to the American Red Cross, 11 adults and 10 children were displaced.

The building appeared to be uninhabitable, according to fire officials. The Red Cross is providing emergency housing, food, clothing, and baby supplies to the affected families.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
