Fire at Bloomfield Apartment Complex

Firefighters responded to a fire at the Windsor Crossing complex on Barry Circle in Bloomfield Wednesday morning.

Dozens of firefighters responded to a a fire at 84 Barry Circle in Bloomfield Wednesday morning.

Crews from Bloomfield, Blue Hills and Windsor were called to the Windsor Crossing Apartment Community around 9:45 a.m.

The fire started in the kitchen and spread to the second floor of one of the apartment units, according to fire officials.

A family of six, including four children live in the apartment.  No one was home when the fire broke out.  Nadine Perne,  who lives there,  returned home from dropping her children off at school when she saw the flames.

The apartment was significantly damaged and the family will not be able to return tonight, fire officials said.

The Red Cross is assisting the family.

Four other families were displaced from their apartments, according to fire officials.
