Firefighter Injured Battling Norwich House Fire

A Norwich firefighter was injured assisting in a house fire that took over two hours to battle Saturday night.

Neighboring town firefighters joined forces to combat the house fire at a five-family home on 145 Rockwell St in Norwich that left six people displaced.

The fire was called in just after 10 p.m. last night, and was said to have started from the third floor of the three-story building. Along with the Norwich fire department, the Mohegan Tribe Fire Department, Munich Fire Department, and Taftville Fire Department all assisted in containing the fire. The blaze was under control at 12:35 a.m. Sunday morning

The injured firefighter was treated and released at an area hospital.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
