Factory Destroyed by Fire Being Knocked Down

Demolition crews were at the vacant Remington Arms Factory for a second day Monday.

They were taking down parts of the factory on Barnum Avenue and Helen Street after fire damaged it Saturday.

Flames broke out in the empty building around 11 a.m. Saturday.  It took fire crews about an hour to bring the blaze under control, but they were dousing hot spots through Sunday night.

The fire marshal was investigating, but has not determined what started the fire.
