Arson Detectives Investigating 2-Alarm Fire in Hartford

Officials said this is the second fire at this building.

Hartford firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire at a three-story vacant building at 9 Gillett St. in Hartford and Hartford police major crimes arson detectives have been called in to investigate. 

Firefighters said this is the second fire at the same building. The last was was last summer.

Officials said the fire this morning started around 4:20 a.m. on the third floor, near the back of the building, which is under renovation. 

The apartment building next door was evacuated as a safety precaution and no one has been hurt. 

The office of the state fire marshal is investigating how the fire started. Officials initially said the fire did not appear suspicious.
