First Alert: Heavy Rain & Gusty Winds Today

Heavy rain of 1 to 3 inches is expected across Connecticut, with some areas seeing up to or over 4 inches. There is potential for flash flooding in some areas.

The NBC Connecticut First Alert meteorologists have issued a First Alert for the potential for high winds and heavy rain on Friday. 

Heavy rain of 1 to 3 inches is expected across Connecticut, with some areas seeing up to or over 4 inches. There is potential for flash flooding in some areas.

A coastal flood warning is in effect for parts of Long Island Sound. A flood watch is in effect for the entire state from late Thursday night through late Friday night. Coastal flooding is likely during the high tide cycle Friday morning.

In addition to the flood watch a wind advisory is in effect along the shoreline. That's where we expect the winds to gust the highest.
