Power Being Restored After Thursday Storms

More than 7,000 were without power as storms and strong storms brought lightning and flooding in Middletown and Portland Thursday evening, but power is being restored/

Emergency management crews told NBC Connecticut that flooding issues persisted throughout Middletown and sewers could not handle the amount of rain that came down on Washington Street or Randolph Road.

Middletown reported multiple trees are down, including one on Randolph Road, officials said. 

NBC Connecticut meteorologists said Middletown was hit with one month's worth of rain in only a couple hours. 

According to Middletown's mayor Dan Drew, water was so heavy that it flooded Woodrow Wilson Middle School through the HVAC system. 

Portland Police said there is flooding reports on Main Street but there has been no reports on trees down. 

Eversource said there were more than 2,560 outages in Middletown and 500 out in Portland, but the number is down to 18 in Middletown and 15 in Portland as of 4:12 p.m.
