Former Deep River Resident Killed in Home Invasion

Steve Grich was shot and killed in a home invasion in South Carolina this weekend

Family and friends are mourning the death of a former Deep River resident and Valley Regional High School graduate who was shot and killed during a home invasion in Central, South Carolina.
Steven Grich, a 23-year-old student at Clemson University, was shot and killed in his off-campus apartment on Saturday, December 8.

According to the CT Post, Grich was an electrical engineering major who was born in Virginia and spent significant time in Connecticut.
 
According to the Pickens County Sheriff Department, on Saturday, Dec. 8, four masked men entered Grich’s South Carolina home and shot him. Police said that Grich did not know his attackers and that he was not the intended target.
 
Grich, along with four other occupants, were inside the home at the time. Police said that the men entered through an unlocked back door.
 
Police have arrested three men and issued a warrant for another in connection with Grich’s murder.

Jordan Dalton, 19, Jaron Dalton, 24 and Bernard Ramsey, 19,  have all been charged with murder, armed robbery, first degree burglary and weapons possession. Police have issued a warrant for the alleged trigger man Lester Mosley, 18.
 
Robert McKinley, Grich’s roommate, was arrested and charged with simple possession of marijuana after police discovered drugs while searching the home.
 
According to the CT Post, Grich’s family and friends in Deep River are planning a candlelight vigil in his honor.
