Funeral Today for Woman Killed in Norwich Restaurant

Police said Donna Richardson, 45, of New London, was not the intended target.

The funeral for a woman killed during a shooting at a restaurant in Norwich will be held on Monday.

Donna Richardson, 45, of New London, was killed in a shooting at the Mai Thai Restaurant on June 24.

According to the Norwich Police Department the investigation indicates that Richardson was not the intended target.

As Norwich police search for the gunman involved in the fatal shooting, Richardson’s fiance and boyfriend of 10 years is asking for the public’s help to bring the killer to justice. 

“She didn’t deserve to get what she got,” Steven Roderick said. “Her life got taken for no reason at all. All she liked to do was go out and have a good time, that’s all she ever wanted to do,” Roderick said.

Roderick described Richardson as a happy, generous, positive person, who loved and celebrated life. She was at a graduation party when she was shot, he said.

Lester Gee Funeral Home, 1390 Fairfield Ave., Bridgeport, is making the funeral arrangements.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, at Bethel Memorial Church, 1242 State St., Bridgeport, according to her obituary. Interment will follow in Park Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service, at the church.

No arrests have been made in the case.
