A gas leak shut down Farmington Avenue in West Hartford from Trout Brook Drive to Overlook Avenue on Wednesday afternoon.

A gas leak forced the closure of part of  Farmington Avenue in West Hartford on Wednesday.

A construction crew struck a gas line, causing the leak in the area of 898 Farmington Avenue, according to police.

Farmington Avenue was closed from Trout Brook Drive to Outlook Avenue while crews made repairs.

The road reopened just before 3 p.m.
