Crews Clear Scene at Southington School

Students were kept on buses Wednesday morning as firefighters investigated the smell of gas outside JFK Middle School in Southington.

The Southington Fire Department has cleared the scene at John F. Kennedy Middle School in Southington after the smell of gas was detected.

Students were just arriving when the smell was detected around 9 a.m., according to school officials.

They were kept on school buses outside the school until the fire department gave the "all clear."

Students are not being allowed back into to building at 1071 South Main Street, in the Plantsville.
