4 Goats Put on School Roof

Not one, but four goats were removed from an overhang at Simsbury High School.

Simsbury police and firefighters spent part of the morning at Simsbury High School on Wednesday to remove four pygmy goats from an overhang over a door at the high school.

The custodian spotted the goats around 6 a.m. They were 10 feet up, on the overhang above a door.

Fire department ladders were used to get the goats down.

Where the goats are from is a bit of a mystery.

The owner of Flamig Farm, located about four miles away, on Shingle Mill Road in West Simsbury, went to help when the Simsbury police called.

"They said, 'We need a little help. We've got some goats on the roof of the high school' and I thought, 'OK, I'll go help.'" Nevin Christensen said. "They were very calm. There was a guy on the step ladder trying to calm one down, attract it over. They were reasonably calm."

He thought they were his but then realized they were not after putting them in the pen.

"This was before coffee. I wasn't paying close attention, didn't notice that I had four more goats than I ever had," Christensen said.

Police are calling this a senior prank and hope the tag on one of the goats will help lead them to the owner.

They do not know who is behind it and whether charges will be filed will depend on how the school and the owner of the goats want to handle it.

The goats were not injured and the school day went on as planned.
