Brookfield teenager Megan Mitchell is a dedicated Lady Gaga fan and was looking forward to seeing the singer at a performance at the Oakdale in Wallingford. When Gaga canceled, Megan took her appeal to YouTube.
"I was so excited to see her and I had bought tickets, and it was always leading up, oh my gosh, one month till I get to see Lady Gaga, and two days before the concert was going on was when it got canceled," said Mitchell.
On the singer's website, she told fans she could no longer just dance her way through Connecticut. Exhaustion had her canceling the show in Wallingford and postponing the one at Mohegan Sun. To show her own disappointment, Megan decided to make her own YouTube video.
"Lady Gaga is all about how her art really impacts people, and it has impacted me, so I figured the best way to show her how I feel is use her art in my own way," said Mitchell.
Even Megan's friends were amazed at how she combined Gaga's lyrics with her own opinions.
"Loved it, it was a really good idea. I didn't expect this at all," said Christina Foley of Danbury.
"I thought it was amazing, it was funny. I can't believe how many people saw it," said Melinda Corso of Brewster, New York.
The video has already seen 1200 hits and has been linked to various fan sites. Megan is hoping it will eventually make its way to Lady Gaga herself.
"I'm really hoping she sees it, because if she could reschedule the concert, that would be great for so many other fans," said Mitchell.
Ticket holders for the Wallingford show will receive refunds through Live Nation.
On her website, Lady Gaga says the Mohegan Sun show will be rescheduled, but she hasn't said when.
