Governor Jodi Rell was given her personal comedy show from Howie Mandel, during a tour of the new set of “Deal or No Deal.”

Mandel pointed to the catering display and told the Governor, “I think this is the hart and soul of any show, is the food, the spread they put out.”

“Deal or no Deal” is one of four NBC-Universal syndicated programs that have moved to Connecticut, for tax breaks passed by Governor Rell and the legislature. Rell says that getting a show to film in Connecticut is great for the state’s economy.

“It’s good for Connecticut,” the Governor said. “It’s good for economic development and I think the three most important words from all of this; jobs, jobs, jobs.”

Howie Mandel thanked the governor for visiting during the taping of the 500th show telling her, “First id like to say it’s an honor to have your presence here.”

“Deal or No Deal” spent its first 3 1/2 years taping in California before relocating to Sonalyst studios in Waterford this past summer.

Mandel says the move has been great, and that the new Connecticut audiences appreciate the show more than those in Los Angeles.

“We have an exciting game but it’s even more exciting doing it here in Connecticut.”
