Police in Greenwich have teamed up with Linden, N.J. police to search for the suspect in three recent bank robberies, one of which resulted in a massive police search that shut down the Greenwich Metro North station last week.
Police have released surveillance photos of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help in tracking him down.
Authorities say he is the suspect in two bank robberies in Greenwich and one in New Jersey.
Greenwich police shut down the town Metro-North station following the robbery of a nearby People's United Bank on Aug. 28. They said the suspect fled in the direction of the station and believed he might have boarded a train.
The most recent robbery happened today around 4:25 p.m., when the suspect entered a Chase Bank at 137 Putnam Avenue in Greenwich. Police said he matched the description of the suspect in both prior robberies, and spoke to the teller in English but had a strong Spanish accent.
The suspect handed the teller a note demanding cash and gestured at his waistband, threatening to shoot if the teller didn't comply. Police said the teller handed over several thousand dollars.
Greenwich police said the suspect left the scene, and that a witness thought he or she spotted him getting into a car. The car is described as being a “dingy” black four-door sedan, possibly with Connecticut plates.

At the time of the robbery today, the suspect was wearing a black baseball cap, gray thermal shirt and dark pants, according to police.
Linden police provided a similar description of the suspect, reporting that the suspect had a Spanish accent. Both police departments described him as a white man with a medium build, about 5’8” tall, possibly in his 20s.
Following the Aug. 20 robbery of a Wells Fargo bank in New Jersey, an off-duty officer said the suspect got away in a silver compact car with a New York license plate that appeared to contain the letter “ANX.”
The Greenwich and Linden police departments are working together to track down the suspect.
