Group Kills Poll Worker During Waterbury Rampage

A hit squad of three to five men rampaged through Waterbury early Tuesday morning, pistol whipping people, and hit one man too hard and killed him.

Nando Gonzalez, 48, died where he fell on Baldwin Street before sunrise.

People who know him said he was walking to work at a polling place.

Police said he was the final victim of the group.

Previous victims survives and were able to give police descriptions of the attackers' vehicle: a dark blue or dark green minivan with gold trim.

"We believe that maybe these people are from out of town," Police Capt. Chris Corbett said. "We're asking anyone in the public with any information, if they know anyone driving that vehicle, if they have any additional information, to please call us with it."
