Your Hair Doesn't Have to Look Unemployed Too

Your hair doesn't have to look unemployed too. On Tuesdays, those who are out of work can get $5 haircuts.

Your bills keep piling up, you just got handed a pink slip at work and your hair is looking like a rats' nest. Your life is a hot mess but your locks don't have to be.

Give yourself a makeover on the cheap by visiting La Bella Hair Salon, at 280 Branford Road, in North Branford.

On Tuesdays, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., unemployed residents can get a $5 haircut, the New Haven Register reports. Normally you'd pay $55.

The salon will ask customers for some proof that they lost their job but the discount can extend to family members as well.

The promotion has been going on for about two weeks already. So far, about 10 people have taken advantage of it.

Hairdressers at the salon have heard from some customers who have lost their jobs. They have also noticed fewer people coming through the doors.

“We honestly feel so bad, so that’s why (we’re doing this) — at least haircuts still make you feel good and look better,” Christina Pepe, owner of La Bella Hair Salon, told the New Haven Register.
“Just to get away from the stressful environment and come in for a $5 haircut."

The salon, in the Central Shopping Plaza, will offer the promotion every Tuesday.
